Giveaway time!

To everyone who messaged, posted and DMd me regarding my Versailles reviews, THANK YOU! And also, SORRY! I suddenly got some urgent work dumped on my plate, so had to attend to that, plus I will be doing some study in the next few months AND also, in the chaos, I had to write a business plan because I’m so terrible at sticking to a schedule and need to be held accountable if I actually want to finish anything.

So now,  I have a proper writing schedule and hopefully I shall have a fiction novella out by December  🙂 Yay!

As a big “merci” for your patience,  I am offering up a signed copy of Louis XIV: The Real Sun King for one lucky reader.  Just put a comment under this post and you will go in the draw. Even if you’ve already bought a copy (THANK YOU!!) you can still enter – maybe gift a friend?  Let me know if you win and I’ll happily send it on.  The contest closes 9pm on 1 September (That is UK time – 10pm Paris/German time, 6am on 2 September in Australia, various timezones throughout the States – check your time converter!)

Good luck!

Well, this last series has been HARD WORK. Haven’t managed to finish it yet and I skipped some bits in the middle.
Looking forward to hearing about it from you 😉

So many plans and projects! I keep my fingers crossed for everything, especially for the new novella. Sounds exciting! 🙂 I hope you will not forget about your blog. I would be happy to see a new article here (or maybe a sample of the new book? ;)).
Good luck to you too, Jules!

Work…..doesn’t it just get in the way???!,,
Would love a copy of your book as I know it will be the one where the FACTS are presented!
Series 3 was beautiful to look at (Versailles in all its glory, and sans tourists!!) but mon Dieu the story line ….I
    I was very confused!
And Marcheal….better a glorious death than prison or, in keeping with the other Disney aspects (voluntary suicide of Luke I am your father…oh and also yours Phillipe…..please what were they thinking??) and have let M Fabine escape across the border to the beautiful duchesse.
Will look forward to reading your historie and the novel….Any hints re topic/ genre??

      Bonjour, Mary-Anne!

I can give you a hint at the novel – it will be an ongoing historical series. 🙂 I have plans for at least seven, and have almost finished the first one, trying to write the second one in between other projects.

I so missed your episode recaps but at the end I watched season three without your aid. Utterly disappointed in this season… still have the very last episode left just can’t face it after the awful penultumate episode. Glad you’re back as would love to read your thoughts on this last season as well!!!

I would love to be included and put in the hat to win your book. I loved versailles but like many people I have felt very let down by the writers. I don’t think it should have been done at all. There didn’t feel like much connection with the characters as they were in season one and two. I became obsessed with the history and have spent a lot of hours reading here and other places about King Louis. It is a shame there isn’t more written about his brother. I think the series should have been left at two. I hate the fact that there are so many loose ends with some of the characters. I wonder if the writers realise how let down so many people feel with the last series.

You know I’ve always enjoyed your reviews, so I wonder if your book would be as wonderfully entertaining & informative . 😉

Thanks Jules for writing what we are all thinking about S3, such a shame. Fingers crossed for the win…

I would live to read this and to have you sign it would be so special. ❤❤❤ congrats. So, what will you be working on now? Historical I hope. I’m just into historical figures. I know there are books on the borgias and haven’t purchased any because I’m not sure which one would be closest to what the family was really like. Suggestions? It would be kind of cool to read books after louis death and peek into louis 15 as well and philippes son in control so to speak until 15 took over. I’ve read some on 16 but 15 no. I’m sorry for asking questions and asking ur thoughts on good borgia book if there is one and if there is a good one on the court after 14 does and 15 is in. Thank you!!!

Hi Beth! Book recommendations… 🙂 Well, I know historian Samantha Morris has a specialty in the Borgia history and has written a few books, plus she has recommendations for others on her site. As to the other Louis, I haven’t read a lot of fiction set in their worlds (on account of time, plus I tend to get annoyed when the research is wrong!) but Amazon keep recommending books to read, thanks to my purchases Moreso novels set in the time of Marie Antoinette. The Wardrobe Mistress by Meghan Masterson keeps popping up on my browser, which looks interesting. And I know Aurora has read Kate Braithwaite’s book, Charlatan. If you search ‘Marie Antoinette novels’ on Amazon, it throws up a rather broad selection of titles, but I haven’t read any so couldn’t say if they were good. Sally Christie has written a Versailles mistresses trilogy, set in the time of Louis XV that keeps getting good reviews. The movie Farewell, My Queen was very good and based on a book of the same name by Chantal Thomas. If you find any good ones, let me know!

  12. Laura Gharazeddine

If your book is half as entertaining and informative as your or Aurora’s blogs, it’ll be a very good read indeed! It would be lovely to win a signed(!) copy- in time for the start of S3 of the show in the U.S.!
